Devitos is a sub stand where you go and get freshly baked bread and nice employees taking care of you with rapid speed. I've had the Cuban Heel and the Gaslight, so that's a short selection. They have a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. As well as pizza and salad. Not a bad place to eat lunch.

For some reason, the east coast has much better italian subs than the south. I'm not quite sure why, but the difference is very apparent. I really enjoyed my Italian Sausage sub. The bread had a home baked taste to it and the ingredients were on point. I loved the overall composition of the sandwich and it was neither greasy nor overpowering in any category. I will be back for this sub again! Note: There's little seating available here.

Best daily fresh baked Italian Bread and Handmade Pizza on the Eastern Shore. A true Italian classic made with Citterio Meats is a must for any Italian Coldcut fan. If you need Roast Beef/Turkey... Then try The Godfather/The Godmother made with Boars Head meats topped with Cole Slaw! Once you taste the bread you will be addicted. No other Sub Shop in Ocean City compares to a DeVitos. They've been around since the early 1980s and completely Family Owned (which is very rare in this day and age). Fastest, most efficient, most entertaining Father/Son team to watch while your order is being made. Call in your order or order in store. If you have been to Ocean City but not DeVitos then you haven't been to Ocean City. Life Long DeVito's Fan.

Tasty sandwiches, terrible service! These jerks really know how to make a fresh roll sandwich.

How about that, real bread! I had the opportunity to get take out from Devito's the other day. I sampled three menu items. 1) A Pepperoni Pizza 2) Devito's Special Italian Cold Cut 3) The Godfather The Pepperoni Pie was stupendous, They have an older BLODGETT mini stack, and the owner/operator Mike knows how to use it. I was the pick-up delivery guy, and I noticed in the car the Pizza smelled old fashioned, I could practically taste being at my first pizza party as I toured South on Coastal hwy. When I finally got a taste, I was not disappointed. One of my co-diners commented that the sauce/cheese/meat ratio was perfect for the crust, I have to concur. The Italian from Devito's is flat out delicious, I had one about a month ago, and I knew the bread, a proper Italian hard roll, cooked on premise, made the Sammy. NO ONE in the OCMD metropolitan area serves a hard roll except Devito's. The Devito Italian and the Godfather (Roast Beef, Swiss Coleslaw & Thousand Is.) both rise above the competition because of it, a proper Torpedo. A true connoisseur of the deli meat sandwich, knows that a proper resting period is necessary after construction, for the flavors to meld, hard roll to soften, ect... This works out well for Devito's, the shop is setup for take-out and the obligatory travel after purchase from their 143rd street location to your favorite snack spot is bound to set you straight. I have not had the opportunity to make a purchase for a day on the beach, however, experience tells me a cooler full of Devito's delicacies, would be A-OK.

A friendly sub shop that's smells good and thats because they are making and selling subs and other food. The subs come in one size. The garden salad is large enough for two. They sell Italian specialities like dried pasta, oil and tomatoes in a can. We ordered an italian, a roman prince sub and a garden salad. This place has clearly been in the family and I will come back again and again.

Love the subs - seriously love the subs. We get godfather and roast beef. Yum! Service is lacking - they can't seem to get things together - takes a loooong time - even when calling ahead, plan to wait. If the food weren't so good, we would go elsewhere, but man, these subs are our favorite!

A trip to Ocean City would not be the same with at least one trip to Devito's. The bread is outstanding. I have had the Devito Special an the Steak and Cheese and they are great. This past trip I got the Rueben sub to change it up and it was great, I could have ate two. I even had to get subs to drive back to my parents because they couldn't go on vacation. Service is good but can take awhile during the season because they get busy. But worth the wait, can't wait for my next trip! Might have to go a couple times

There's a reason this place has been around for over 75 years! If you're one of those "Subway connoisseurs" then this is not the place for you my friend. Foodies unite at DeVito's for REAL Italian sandwiches! My family has been coming to this place for over 30 years. The fresh baked Italian bread (which is SUPPOSED to be crispy) and excellent quality meats standout above any other sandwich shop. Mike and his staff are always incredibly personable and easygoing. The sandwiches and pizzas cannot be beat. The Roman Prince and the Greyhound-On-The-Run are my favorite sub combinations.

As regular coneseurs of Italian subs & deli's, we give Devito's 5 stars for its high quality meats, fresh crusty bread & great service. It's a different sub than your typical overloaded Italian or cheese steak and it certainly highlights the ingredients in every bite. Almost tastes like Italy. Do not miss the Cannoli's either. I'll get a dozen next time. Fabulous!! Do not miss!

Small Italian deli with "ok" food. The italian cold cut was ok, but apparently they don't put peppered ham on their icc's. As for 'fresh baked bread' mine didn't taste fresh and the cheese was super thin. My husband said the pizza was horrible, and from the looks of it I don't have a problem believing him. As in his words "I've had better from 7-11." Top it off it was $3 a slice. Don't think we'll be going back, wasn't impressed. Carry-out only, no bathrooms, sub-par overpriced food.

I have been on a desperate one year crusade to find a good sub in North OC. DeVito's was oh so close. The sub was good. The employees were super nice. The roll was good. Here is where they lose it. They don't offer fries. Sorry but to me sub and fries go together like oil and vinegar. To me it is unthinkable for a sub shop to not offer fries. Bummer.

Used to work next door to them for a few summers, the fresh baked bread is what stands out for me, great friendly staff, great sandwiches

The subs here are great! Every component of the sub (meats, bread, cheese, etc.) really complement each other. Every time I go to OC this is the first place I stop when I arrive as well as when I leave. The subs here are authentic Italian-style subs. Don't fall for the crap at Subway even though it's much cheaper. The only downside of this place is the subs are a little pricey and if I'm not mistaken, you have to pay in cash.

Absolutely fantastic subs. Please disregard my previous review. Grotto still beats them for pizza, but absolutely amazing subs. The bread is probably the best part. They take credit cards now!

Bread lovers welcome to bread heaven! Owner bakes (from scratch!) daily, I COULD live off the bread alone and when combined with all the excellent combinations of "real deal", fresh Italian pasta salads, spiced olives, deli meats, etc, OH MY GOODNESS! Devito's puts all the sandwich chains to shame! It is no mystery why Devito's is Ocean City's long time local favorite deli. If you want fabulous food and create service on a catering job for office parties, wakes and wedding receptions, check out Devito's. Downside is they close in dead of winter so before season ends each year I fill my freezer with that amazing Devito bread, couldnt get through the long cold winter without it;) DHDF (Die Hard Devito Fan)

Great subs . Takout service only. I had the steak and cheese last time I was there. I have also tried the Godfather, a roast beef, swiss ant Thousand Island Sub, delicious. One of the best I have ever had. Devitos makes their own bread, its perfect. They are closed December thru the beginning of March.

I'm a bit biased since I worked here in high school, bit these are the best goddamn subs I have ever had, to this day. The bread is baked fresh daily, the meat is top-shelf real Italian meat, the veggies are fresh. I still go back for subs whenever I'm in town. My personal favorite is the Roman Prince. This is no-frills, no BS, just straight up good sandwiches made with quality product and real Italian-Americans who know Italian-American food. The pizzas, while not the highlight here, are still among the best on the beach. Prices aren't cheap, but if you want a bargain, go to Subway and eat pretend meat, you cheap bastard.

Great authentic Italian Deli! Bread made fresh daily. My fav is the Godfather Sub! 75 years and still going strong makes this deli a must visit when in OC.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
